Wilsonville Wastewater Treatment Plant

An upgrade to include modern wastewater treatment technology, new odor control system and increased capacity.

Wilsonville, OR February 2014

The Wilsonville Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project, completed in 2014, modernized aging infrastructure, integrated new technologies, and addressed odor concerns. This upgrade ensures compliance with current and future regulations while meeting the city’s capacity needs through approximately 2025, with provisions for expansion to 7 MGD by 2035. The project also transitioned from liquid to solid biosolids processing, simplifying byproduct management.

The City of Wilsonville partnered with CH2M Hill for the design, construction, and 15-year operation of the plant. A significant focus of the project—with a $1.4 million investment—was odor control, including a contractual “odor guarantee” with penalties for violations. The upgraded facility boasts a capacity of approximately 4 MGD, sufficient for projected needs in the near future.

The Wilsonville Wastewater Treatment Plant project’s success was recognized with a 2014 National Award of Merit from the Design-Build Institute of America in the water and wastewater category.
